Expectation and Its Counter Effect

Today’s WordPress Daily Prompt is the word, “expectation.”  An expectation, as I understand it, is of a nature that something of which you’re aware is coming to you.  Being Valentine’s Day, you may have the expectation that your significant other will be giving to you a memento that both remembers the special occasion and pledges romance to you.  However, I am sure there are many for who the idea of remembering Valentine’s is a somewhat discarded idea, while at the same time there many a number of folk for who it is among the best days of the year.
Having an expectation, which is to receive something you are due or which you feel is second-nature to you, means that there is some likelihood you will actually encounter the expectation which is yours.  If an expectation, which you feel you are owed, is somehow frustrated, you will feel tangible disappointment and possibly even anger, as you feel short-changed by the event which falls short of your expectation.  A remedy for this may be to re-evaluate your expectation so that your attention turns to how and why it is you feel to you your expectation is due, and you are less disappointed when your expectation goes unfulfilled.
Another tactic which might be effective, in the case of an unfulfilled expectation, is to leave room for error, so that when your expectation is thwarted, you aren’t left in the lurch, and might counter so that some aspects of your expectation may possibly be fulfilled.  If you feel something owed to you falls short of the mark, giving yourself other options, which might both satisfy your expectation and give you breathing room by which you might find again your expectation is met, may be the answer when what you feel is owed you comes up short.
