Thinking I Have Been Misguided

An Internet newsletter I read included an interesting 2007 interview I read last night with filmmaker Werner Herzog

brickmag.com/was-the-twentieth-century-a-mistake/

The films the writer of the article points to include Nosferatu the Vampyre, Aguirre the Wrath of God, and Fitzcarraldo, three which I viewed quietly when I was in college, specifically in the year 1999 when such things were far less frequently available. One of my college essays included a few of my observations about Herzog, and, perplexingly enough, my teacher mentioned the last day we spoke to each other that he was planning himself to write a book about Herzog, to establish the young man who taught me himself, as a writer. The interview included a peculiar observation Herzog made in the 2007 interview, in which the filmmaker is quoted as saying: “Adventure! I cannot stand the term adventure nowadays—I lower my head and charge—it has degenerated into such an obscenity that you can go to the travel agency and book an adventure trip to New Guinea, to the headhunters, to the cannibals.”

I was reminded of my blog post two days ago:  findingenvirons1.wordpress.com/2017/06/24/what-might-have-been-adventure-can-show-the-rust/ which included in its title the unfortunate word Adventure. I think I must correct the impression it left, but, to the blog post’s credit, it did receive the attention and interest of a blogger with a much, much larger profile than I have, beautybeyondbones, who compared to me you should read, and you can find her most recent post at the time of this writing at

beautybeyondbones.com/2017/06/22/the-exploitation-by-to-the-bone/

Compared to me, she’s very good.

That being said, today’s WordPress Daily Prompt is the word, “Local,” and I think how hard it is to be by and large confined to the area which is local for me and still to feel like there is a contribution I can make. I am not easily discouraged, but I think compared to someone like beautybeyondbones, who has gone through tremendous suffering and come back strong, I wonder what kind of insight I can conjure. I think again, however, and I remember it is true that if you have any interest in doing business in 2017, you should definitely have a blog and update it regularly. I sometimes tweet links to articles that argue for the importance of blogging, and, I feel the odd person who clicks through what I share on Twitter about blogging sometimes must resonate. You can find me on Twitter here

findingenvirons

It is nearly ready for a summer update, but that must by necessity and for scheduling reasons be left for several days from now, which is what I’ve decided.

There is a plentitude of blogging advice available on the Internet, but the best advice I know of is this tidbit. You should generally not tell people what to post. Any passion, any recipe for inventiveness or what is usually referred to as authenticity, should not be filtered out of an individual’s content for the sake of conveying expertise. It is not a good idea.

The WordPress photo challenge this week has been an essay on the subject of Transience, and while I expressed an interest in the essay in my previous blog post I did neglect to include a link to the actual essay, in case you wish to read it. It is here

photo-challenges/drifter/

I shall include another photo, which I think implies transience, simply for the oversight of not actually linking to the essay which inspired the blog post which beautybeyondbones briefly evaluated, impressing me greatly. If you are of a mind that a post like this is favourable to you, feel free to, “like,” “comment,” and/or, “follow.” I seldom know what this will turn up, but I was moved by the response to the previous blog post again and also what the Werner Herzog interview turned up (and that too you should consider reading in its entirety).

Fortune is the Result of Aim Coupled with Dedication

Today’s WordPress daily prompt is the word, “fortune.”  When you reflect on fortune, you might think of the sixty hours you could put in at work each week, and the money that goes with the right efforts of long hours of effort.  You can make mastery out of your life, if you have the right drive, experiences, and initiative.  It may take early mornings, long hours of study, and perspiration.  However, if you write your own formula for ingenuity, you might find yourself gearing up for sought-after rewards.  It is up to you to make your fortune.
With any luck, you’ve gained some intuition by your education.  You’ve become schooled, set goals for yourself, and become aware of the dictates set by your own heart.  You’ve gone forward into employment, taken on entrepreneurship, begun to accumulate material wealth.  It is the first ties you have to success.  You have the key to the door for future growth.
I’ve become interested in Patrick Bet-David’s channel for videos on YouTube about entrepreneurship, known as Valuetainment.  Bet-David is like a philosopher to the business world.  He has a deep-seated drive to enrich himself and he undertakes a radical approach to business savvy.  His vision for Valuetainment, as I understand it, is to communicate expertise for those likewise amassing countless hours of the single-minded pursuit of achievements of commerce.  What first captivated me about Bet-David and Valuetainment is Patrick’s thoughts on the future of Twitter.  He has clearly reflected at length on what can be done for the future of the ailing social media giant.  I knew then that Patrick Bet-David was a man of excellent character and insight into concerns which personally were aware in me.  I was stunned that the man has such a terrific grasp of questions which were likewise occurring to me, and of course to many others.  You should take a look at what he said.
I will continue to share some of the Valuetainment YouTube videos, to Twitter, knowing that occasionally they will spark an moment of interest in people exploring both popular social media platforms.  It is necessary to put in the hours for success if you want to be like Bet-David.  I’m a lightweight, merely playing; but there will be those for who Valuetainment presents answers.  Do take a look.
Don’t overlooking subscribing to Valuetainment on Youtube, and consider “liking” this post, “following” my blog and/or commenting.  I appreciate you dropping by, and good luck to you whatever you take on in 2017 and beyond.  I wish you all the best.

New Horizon: 2017 and the quest for skyward glory

dscf8634

This week’s WordPress photo challenge asked participants to explore New Year’s Resolutions.  With the change happening with the momentum of a mountain avalanche, it must be with sails set we investigate the future.  There’s never been better opportunities to get in the game.  Whatever our potential, it is the ponderous acumen to get in alongside our peers and our mentors, that we stake our individual claims in 2017.  However and whatever we understand it to be, the glory of a better tomorrow will take hold in our respective imaginings if we understand that we have our grip on what’s tremendous in the mindset of our personal crux.  We have everything to do and, for all intents and purposes, one year to do it in.
Star Wars reigns in this day and age, if you are of a heart that’s dear to the galactic battles originally envisioned by George Lucas.  Once more the call comes down to vanquish Darth Vader and the Empire.  If you have been enthralled by the science fiction opus all along, you will want to summon your reserves of imagination in order to once more seize the day with Star Wars Rogue One, giving wind to flights of fancy which will carry you into the year 2017.  The future looks brighter if you are of a mind to embrace the science fiction of Star Wars.  It’s never been a better time to do so.
The other force for good is social. Social and branding on social is triumphantly becoming ever the more expansive as we come to a better understand of ourselves as a people joined collectively by the best intelligence on social and by the propulsion of travelling impossible distances as we brand ourselves online.  It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to say that everything we represent in ourselves to our peers becomes as fantasy meets reality as content and social continue to evolve in 2017.
Times will always have their share of troubles and there will always be gaps in our freedoms.  Turning our attention to the Internet and also outer space means that we will avail ourselves of woe and of turbulence to come out the other side running.  Thanks to technology and to the creative spirit that beats in the heart of mankind we have this year, 2017, in which to make it a go.  If you think you see the spirit of what I’m decreeing, given that the WordPress photo challenge this week asks us to reflect, by all means, please “like” and/or “follow” and comment.  Thank you for reading, and Happy New Year.  Good luck in the year 2017.

The Best of my Blog

My name is Patrick Coholan and I am a Canadian who blogs as his hobby. I mean it to be handy for people who take an interest work on and off the Internet and I hope that the readers who find me enjoy what I have wrote for them. Many of the photographs accompanying the blog posts I have taken myself. I do quite a bit of informal research that I bring to the table with my blog. I am also a content writer with occasional part-time work coming to me from India. I am most comfortable blogging and writing from afar.

Second Thoughts

Second thoughts for a blogger might include realizing that stock photos, while “free” in exchange for a membership in a stock photo site, could lead to stock photos in blog posts that represent a hurdle for the blogger who doesn’t have original photography.

Second thoughts for a social media marketer might include budget constraints on designing videos that have mass appeal, more than just straightforward infographics which, while somewhat charming in their relative capacity, are not nearly as captivating as excellent video in social media marketing.

Second thoughts might go with investing a significant amount of energy producing various six-second videos for the Twitter app Vine, which are no longer going up. The momentum became a trend.

Second thoughts might go with signing up for Twitter when this year it has made, I understand, nary a profit. If it does become a sinking ship, and I don’t think it will, it could definitely provoke second thoughts… but I think most people knew when to draw the line.

Second thoughts might go with blogging with WordPress if it turns out Wix is the more popular blogging platform of the two. I don’t think so! I want WordPress to vanquish. Second thoughts might go with choosing a losing theme for your WordPress blog… but if you need help with visual design for your blog, I think you will quickly come to terms with how to get it.

Second thoughts might go with your US Election Day voter booth selfie if you don’t know it is a criminal offense to take such a photo.

Second thoughts might result from your decision to blog instead of watching the news if you want to be an informed citizen.

Second thoughts might result from inadequate research if you are on top of what is simply too many topics at one time.

Second thoughts are not “liking” this post or clicking “follow,” or leaving a comment. I won’t have the pleasure of knowing! Thank you.

Excerpt

Chapter 2: Step 1 – Declutter Your Mind

OK. Let’s get started!

No matter what your goal is, no matter how easy or hard you may think it is to attain, the first step that you must take is to declutter your mind.

One of the reasons for which you still haven’t reached your writing goals, is the fact that all of what you’ve learned and heard about publishing your book or about becoming a successful writer, were implemented ideas that are now blocking their fulfillment inside you.

“I have spent most of my time worrying about things that have never happened.” ~ Mark Twain.
For this reason, it’s a great decision to first unlearn what you have learned.

Why do you need to do this? Let me briefly explain.

During our life, we’ve been brainwashed to think that certain goals are impossible to attain. I am telling you that this is one of the biggest lies that we encounter in our lives.

If you are serious about your dreams, if you really wish with all your heart to materialize your dreams, nothing… and I mean nothing can stand in your way. All you have to do is to get rid of all the garbage that was inoculated in your beliefs. Do it and don’t lose time finding out who put it in your mind, why this was done, and most of all don’t blame the ones who taught you those things. They were themselves taught by others and maybe they were well intentioned when they did it. It could have just been because they thought that, that was the ultimate truth. No matter what, this is not your problem but theirs. They were wrong, and you just started on the road to prove it to the whole world. [Read more]

With great courtesy M.C. Simon in her new book refers, in addition to Mark Twain, to established author Jeff Goins (with his My 500 Words challenge). Recommending Scrivener is interesting advice, and M.C. Simon provides an amusing anecdote about Grammarly. All told, the account of the finished product of her book is endearing. I am familiar myself with the work of Jeff Goins, and it is terrific. I am somewhat familiar myself with what How To Reach Your Writing Goals Like A Pro: A Step by Step Guide to becoming a Self-Published Author [even Mark Twain talked about] says about visualization. It is written in nice language.

About the Author

Writer, translator, engineer, researcher, project manager, blogger, eternal student… these are only a few words to describe M.C. Simon.

In a recent interview she confessed:

“I am not only M.C. Simon, the writer whose goal is to rebuild in people the trust in their own forces and in the incredible powers that they received at birth; powers that, maybe they have forgotten about somewhere inside the depth of their being.

I AM all what “I am not only”, and much more! I AM who I AM. And in this form, I follow my Path to consciously touch The Absolute… The ONE who’s Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent.

The same as YOU and like any other soul that accepted in these times, the challenge to experience life inside a human body, on this wonderful planet we call Earth.”
